KU associate dean takes job in Florida

Paul D’Anieri, associate dean in Kansas University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has accepted a new job at the University of Florida.

An associate dean since 2004, D’Anieri will become dean of Florida’s College of Liberal Arts ad Sciences. D’Anieri was one of two finalists for the job, with the other being KU’s arts and sciences associate dean Barbara Romzek.

A third finalist pulled out of the running when an administrative shakeup occurred and with the prospect for large statewide budget cuts. In comments to Florida media, D’Anieri said those challenges were part of the reason he was interested in taking the job.

D’Anieri, who has been at KU since 1991 and has a doctorate from Cornell, will take over at Florida on July 1.
