‘Hero’ wanted for 8-year-old boy

Jack, 8, is an imaginative little boy and wants to grow up to be a scientist because he is interested in machines, robots and dinosaurs. He hopes to be matched to a Big Brother who enjoys fishing, visiting the zoo, reading stories and playing with Transformers action figures. Jack is just one of the 96 youths currently waiting to be matched to a caring, carefully screened volunteer mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Douglas County program. Due to a strong community need for more volunteers, he has been waiting for someone in the Lawrence or Eudora area to become his Big Brother for 10 months. To become Jack’s Big Brother or for more information about Big Brothers Big Sisters please call 1-800-488-2545 or visit www.mentoringmagic.org.
