Health, safety fair scheduled this week

The ninth annual Health, Safety and Wellness Fair sponsored by Haskell Indian Nations University will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in Coffin Sports Complex.

The fair will feature about 40 vendors, providing wellness information and preventive services, such as cholesterol screening, diabetes determinants and the latest physical therapy treatments.

The Lawrence Police Department will use “drunk goggles” to demonstrate the dangers of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The Lawrence Community Mercantile will have an array of healthy snacks for sampling.

Door prizes will be awarded every 30 minutes. Lunch items will be available for purchase as a fundraising activity sponsored by the Haskell Women’s Volleyball Club. For more information about the fair or booth space, contact Haskell Safety Director Debra Thompson at 832-6608.
