Miami – Ryan Church and David Wright each homered, Carlos Beltran had three doubles, and New York pounded out 17 hits.

Braves 10, Pirates 2

Atlanta – Mark Teixeira hit a two-run homer, and Yunel Escobar added a three-run shot in Atlanta’s seven-run eighth inning.

Nationals 1, Phillies 0

Philadelphia – Tim Redding took a one-hitter into the eighth inning, and Ryan Zimmerman hit a solo homer to help Washington stay unbeaten. Redding allowed just a single by Pedro Feliz in the second inning and walked three batters in seven innings. He outpitched Cole Hamels, who gave up one run and five hits in eight innings.

Astros 9, Padres 6

San Diego – Lance Berkman hit a three-run homer off Trevor Hoffman with two outs in the ninth inning. With the Padres leading 6-5, Hoffman retired the first two batters before walking pinch-hitter Jose Cruz Jr. on a full-count pitch. Michael Bourn singled to right and Hunter Pence followed with a single off the tip of first baseman Adrian Gonzalez’s glove to score Cruz.

Cardinals 8, Rockies 3

St. Louis – Cardinals center fielder Rick Ankiel homered, singled twice and made a diving catch for St. Louis. Todd Wellemeyer struck out six in five strong innings, Ryan Ludwick had three hits and three RBIs, and Rico Washington drove in an insurance run with his first career hit after nearly 4,000 minor-league at-bats in a four-run eighth.
