From the Lawrence Daily World for Sept. 29, 1907: "State officials seem interested in setting up a rock road that goes from there through Lawrence to Leavenworth to the advantage of military units. There are many strong arguments for the route. : The price of natural gas is due to drop steadily and it is pointed out that even more economy is possible by having gas equipment in top shape to get the most out of the intakes. One need not buy a furnace specifically equipped for gas since adjustments can be made with old equipment."
