From the Lawrence Daily World for Sept. 27, 1907: "Jack Kelsey learned last night that the thief that stole his horses and carriage is in jail in Seneca, Mo. The sad news is that the thief drove the horses to death and has no way of compensating Kelsey. : The Haskell football team left here today for Fayetteville, Ark., where it will meet Arkansas. : There continue to be meetings about where the Kansas-Missouri football game will be played this Thanksgiving since it is bypassing Kansas City after 16 years. Our university people want the game here this year and at Columbia the next, but Joplin is trying to get the game there. Local officials have long believed the games should be on the campuses rather than in big cities. Our coach Bert Kennedy wants the game played the Saturday before Thanksgiving rather than on the holiday as it has been staged. : KU has a good chance to have a fall enrollment this year 500 above the normal. At this rate of growth, in 12 years it could become the largest university in America providing the other schools do not grow much."
