I'm surprised that Lew & Jim haven't devised a way to black out the game here in Lawrence, and then offer KU fans to sit and watch the game on the jumbotron at the stadium...for $40.00 a seat.

Ah, the memories of going to KU games with my dad as a youngster growing up in the 1970s and 1980s. We rarely missed a game. It's too bad my son and I will never get the opportunity.

Bring back the $10.00 -$20.00 end zone seats, at least for the crap opponents.

By the way, why are so many floor-level seats "reserved" at Late Night? For some of us, that is the only time we can see the Jayhawks in person...and since Lew & Jim took over, they seem to have blocked off half the floor-level seats. It's not just for recruits and current players' families. And how long before Doug Compton's booster activities put KU on probabtion?

I remeber when I was a student at KU, and while camping out I ran over to use the zip at the Burge Union. Billy Thomas, he of the poor background who had to sleep in the same bed with multiple siblings, took out $200.00 right in front of me. How'd he get the money? According to the girl with him, she whispered to the girl I was with that it was girlfriend money from Compton. That is a way that boosters clean the trail. They find out who the player's girl(s) are, and deposit money into the girl(s) account to be used by the player.

By the way, most colleges do this, it's just that some of this is done behind the coaches and administrations back. The reason current NBA player Mike Miller chose to go to Florida over KU was that when he asked his female chaperone on his recruting visit about how much "girlfriend money" the players at KU normally received--and she said she had no idea what he was talking about--he backed out of what most appeared was a certain commitment to KU, and chose Florida.

You won't read about that in Gary Bedore's articles, but it does happen.
