Central Junior High to dedicate new gym

Central Junior High, 1400 Mass., will dedicate and showcase its new competition gymnasium at 7 p.m. Tuesday at a community open house and dedication ceremony.

The gym will be dedicated in honor of the late Wilbur “Nanny” Duver, a former physical education teacher and football coach at Central.

The gym was renovated last year to create music and choral rooms at the school. The new gym is of competition quality and will be used by the community throughout the year.

The ceremony is sponsored by the Central Junior High School Site Council. The council plans to provide student-led tours of the building. Students will play music, and volleyball and cheer demonstrations will take place in the new gym. A flag ceremony, speeches and refreshments are also planned.
