BU outlasts Benedictine
Baldwin City ? The Baker University football team recovered from an inept ground attack and scoreless first half in its home game with Benedictine Saturday night at Liston Stadium by airing it out in the second half on the way to a 25-22 victory.
Quarterback Mack Brown threw for 199 yards and two TDs in the second half after Baker (2-2) netted minus-23 yards on the ground in the first.
After a collision with fellow corner Colton Miller in the secondary, BU’s Eric Allen had a game-sealing interception with 1:28 remaining in the game.
Up only three points in the fourth quarter, Allen also snuffed out a fourth-and-two run by the Ravens’ Jason Garland at the Wildcats’ 31-yard line on the previous possession.
“They were big plays,” Allen said. “I’m just glad the defense was able to pull a win out for us.”
Running back Frank Owens had nine carries, 63 yards and a TD. Marcus Nolan caught five passes for 133 yards.
