Baldwin blanks Ottawa; De Soto tripped

? After two early fumbles, Baldwin High’s football team regrouped and rolled over Ottawa, 46-0, Friday at Liston Stadium Friday.

The Bulldogs had 500 yards of total offense as they rushed for 375 yards and passed for another 125.

“This was very exciting,” Baldwin coach Mike Berg said. “It was a total team effort. The young kids came in and played very good football in the second half. I am proud of all of the kids tonight.”

Six Bulldogs scored touchdowns. Zach Durr caught a 51-yard pass from Drew Berg on Baldwin’s second possession.

Later that quarter, Sam Beecher broke a 46-yard TD run, and Gabe Mason rushed for a 25-yard score.

Brandon Tommer outjumped his defender then left him behind with a double juke to score on a 48-yard reception. Before halftime, Beecher scored another touchdown to give Baldwin a 33-0 lead at the break.

In the second half, Jared Hall and Sam Cooper each rushed for touchdowns as Baldwin (3-1) held the Cyclones scoreless.

De Soto failed to improve to 4-0 after winning its first three games for the third consecutive season, and it can blame big plays. Five of Louisburg’s touchdowns came on plays of 35 yards or more, and three of those came on third or fourth down.
