Fire investigators have classified an early morning fire at an empty apartment as arson.

Division Chief Eve Tolefree, of Lawrence Douglas County Fire & Medical, said investigators are working a few leads.

No one was injured early this morning after firefighters made quick work of a reported fire at the apartment at 1745 W. 24th St. The call came in at 1:44 a.m.

Tolefree said the department asks anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area to call (785) 843-TIPS. The fire is estimated to have caused $15,000, but she did not release any more details.

Tolefree said the apartment was vacant and believed to be under renovation.
