Norman, Okla. ? The Kansas University volleyball team lost its second straight match to a Big 12 foe Saturday afternoon, losing to Oklahoma in four games, 30-24, 30-20, 27-30 and 30-17.

The Jayhawks are 0-2 in the Big 12 and 7-5 overall after the defeat, while the Sooners improved to 9-2 and 2-0 in the Big 12.

KU freshman Jenna Kaiser led the Jayhawks’ offensive attack with 16 kills. Senior Emily Brown added 10 kills and a team-high 34 assists. Brown also was the Jayhawks’ best defender Saturday, racking up 11 digs and five block assists.

Sophomore Katie Martincich chipped in 17 assists and 10 digs as the Jayhawks fell to Oklahoma for the third consecutive match.

In the first game of the afternoon, the lead changed hands 12 times as the Jayhawks held a 21-20 advantage after back-to-back kills by Brown and Savannah Noyes. However, the Sooners scored 10 of the game’s final 12 points and took the early lead in the match.

KU bounced back to take an early lead in game two, 8-7, but after another strong run by the Sooners, Oklahoma led 23-15 and held on to win, 30-20.

With Oklahoma just four points away from sweeping the Jayhawks, Martincich set up a Brown kill to break a 26-26 tie. Moments later, Brown set up sophomore Brittany Williams’ game-winning kill as Kansas took game three, 30-27, to extend the match.

The Jayhawks avoided the sweep, but could not repeat their Game 3 performance in Game 4, as they fell into a 20-13 hole in the fourth game, and Oklahoma walked off with a 30-17 victory.

KU will look to capture its first Big 12 victory Wednesday in Columbia, Mo., as it takes on the Missouri Tigers at 6:30 p.m.
