Jurrjens helps Tigers split

Detroit – Jair Jurrjens allowed one run over five innings to lead Detroit to a 4-1 victory and a split of a day-night doubleheader. Marlon Bryd hit two of the Rangers’ seven homers in their 13-6 victory in the opener.
Yankees 9, Blue Jays 2
Toronto – Jason Giambi hit a grand slam, Jorge Posada added a solo homer, and New York beat Toronto for its sixth straight victory.
New York (82-62) has won 10 of its last 13 to move a season-high 20 games over .500. The Yankees are four games in front of Detroit in the AL wild-card standings after the Tigers split a doubleheader with Texas on Tuesday.
Angels 10, Orioles 5
Baltimore – Vladimir Guerrero returned from a four-game absence and hit two home runs. The ight fielder had been out because of an inflamed right triceps. He came back as the designated hitter for the AL West leaders.
The Angels, however, lost their center fielder, Gary Matthews Jr., to a sprained right ankle. X-rays were negative, and the team said he would miss at least the next five games.
Red Sox 16, Devil Rays 10
Boston – Mike Lowell had four hits, and Kevin Youkilis hit a bases-loaded triple. Boston came back from a seven-run deficit.
Indians 8, White Sox 3
Chicago – Paul Byrd gained his 15th victory, and Travis Hafner had three RBIs.
Athletics 7, Mariners 4
Seattle – The free-falling Seattle Mariners lost manager John McLaren during a heated argument, then lost for the 15th time in 17 games.
