Lawrence High School’s Class of 1997 plans to celebrate 10 years since graduation with a reunion Oct. 12-13.

The weekend’s activities will kick off with a tailgate party at 6 p.m. Friday at Haskell Stadium before the group attends the LHS football game. The group will congregate at the northwest corner of the stadium.

The main event is a cocktail reception planned for 8 p.m. Oct. 13 at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott, Sixth and New Hampshire streets.

¢Former employees of Maupintour and their families are invited to a reunion planned for 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 16 at the shelter at Holcom Park, 2601 W. 25th St.

More than 100 people have made reservations to attend the event, which also will celebrate the birthdays of four people who are turning 60 and two who are 70 this year. To make a reservation or for more information, send e-mail to istongie@sunflower.com.

¢The Flory family reunion is planned for 12:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Lone Star Church of the Brethren, 883 E. 800 Road. Friends and family are invited.

¢Cieara and Leon McCoy, Lecompton, announce the birth of their son, Samuel Owen McCoy, born Sept. 4, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces and was 20 inches long. He has two brothers, Cyrus Francis McCoy and Carl James McCoy.

Maternal grandparents are James and Missy Graham, Perry. Paternal grandparents are Leon and Patricia McCoy, Kansas City, Kan. Great-grandparents are Carl and Pat Manlove, Ozawkie.

¢Leigh DeBiasse graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arizona in May. She received a degree in political science and Spanish. She is the daughter of David and Trish DeBiasse, Lawrence.

¢Patrick Johnson, Lawrence, graduated from the Kansas University School of Pharmacy in August.

Johnson, a sprinter on the KU track team from 2001 to 2003, has accepted a position with the Walgreen Corp. in Portland, Ore.

¢O.U.R.S. (Oldsters United for Responsible Service) is planning its annual picnic from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday at Building 21 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper St. All members are invited.

The meal will be a potluck, and the club will provide fried chicken.

An open band jam is planned, allowing members to showcase their musical talents.

People planning to attend are asked to sign up at one of the club’s dances, conducted at 6 p.m. Sundays and 2 p.m. Wednesdays at the Lawrence Senior Center, 745 Vt.

¢Justin D. Stevens and Robert T. Wempe, both of Lawrence, graduated from Fort Hays State University this summer. Stevens earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology, and Wempe received a Bachelor of Arts in communication.

¢Kelley Liebst, Lawrence, recently completed the California State University Undergraduate Research Experiences in Astronomy at San Diego State University and the Mount Laguna Observatory.

Her summer research was a photometry study of open Cluster M48 in the constellation Hydra.

Liebst is a junior at Kansas University and has been on the Dean’s List for fall 2006 and spring 2007.

¢Darrin and Aubry Bretthauer, Eudora, announce the birth of a daughter, Ryan Aubry Bretthauer, born Aug. 7, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Ryan weighed 7 pounds and was 19 inches long.

Grandparents are Rick and Jean Jamison, and Ben and Diana Bretthauer, all of Eudora. Ryan’s great-grandmother is Nadine Moore, Tonganoxie.
