Old Home Town – 100 years ago
From the Lawrence Daily World for Oct. 30, 1907: “A dispatch from Turkestan says the town of Bokhart has been destroyed and the entire population of 15,000 buried in a mountain slide following the recent earthquake there. Few survivors have been found so far. : Galveston again was ravaged by a storm that assumed cyclonic proportions last night. Only the sea wall held back the gulf. There are no reports on human casualties. : About 250 braved the terrible weather to attend a revival at the Presbyterian Church here last night under the big tent. Talks centered on unpardonable sins and ‘messages to infidels.’ “
