Garcia wins again

? Baldwin’s Heather Garcia repeated as state champion and helped the Bulldogs capture the Kansas 4A girls cross country title Saturday. Garcia’s time of 14:41.55 was more than 13 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

Baldwin’s boys also fared well, taking second behind Mulvane. They were paced by freshman Tony Weiss, who took fourth with a time of 16:57.01, and Aaron Karlin, who finished sixth in 17:00.87.

Eudora senior Emily Ballock earned all-state honors for the first time in cross country. She has been named all-state in hurdles the last three springs.

De Soto’s girls were second, and the DHS boys took third.
