Two Lawrence High School pupils and alternates were chosen to study abroad in the American Field Service exchange program. The choices were Cynthia Gallup and Craig Cropp. The alternates were Debbie Frakes and Sandra Binns.

James K. Logan, dean of the Kansas University law school, called for commitments to make the school one of the best in the nation. Logan said a key item was a new home to replace the ancient and inadequate Green Hall quarters.
