It’s Halloween Night In Your Neighborhood

It’s Halloween Night In Your Neighborhood
By Ronda J. Miller

The wind picks up leaves
And swirls them around
Teens commit pranks
Adults act like clowns
It’s Halloween night
In your neighborhood

Make some hot chili
Heat up spiced cider
Put beer in the fridge
Stock up on candy
It’s Halloween night
In your neighborhood

Carve your pumpkins
Until they look like a fright
Turn on the porch light
Bring in the cat
It’s Halloween night
In your neighborhood

Dirt roads wind around
Take you far out of town

Haystacks seem bleak until

Scarecrows peek from behind them
It’s Halloween night
In the country

Witches on horned owls
Screech high overhead
Demons pop up
From under your hood
It’s Halloween night
In the country

Clouds cover the moon
You hear a loud thud
You’ve hit a large pumpkin
And have a flat tire
It’s Halloween night
In the country

You’re safe back at home
It’s time to disrobe
You sneeze once or twice
You’ve caught a darn cold!
It’s Halloween night
In your neighborhood

Ooops! Forgot to turn out the light
Put out the cat and blow out the candle
Have one last beer with your favorite candy
Pull on some socks to warm up your feet
It’s Halloween night
In your neighborhood

Spirits creep in, see you’re asleep
Let themselves out with hardly a peep
Your snoring is loud, you’re all tuckered out
Your dog jumps into bed howling in fright
It’s Halloween night
In your neighborhood
