Boston ? Wakefield left off roster

Knuckleballer Tim Wakefield is being left off Boston’s roster for the World Series because of a bad shoulder. The 41-year-old Wakefield fought through back problems late in the season.

Rockies activate Cook

Aaron Cook was added Tuesday to the Colorado Rockies’ roster for the World Series, and he’ll start Game 4 at home against Boston. Cook hasn’t pitched in a major-league game since Aug. 10 because of a strained muscle in his side.
