Dwight Keefer, a Kansas University sophomore, won the world championship of freshwater sports fishing in competition against veteran experts at Stone Lake, Wis.

The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Board officially urged voter approval of a new public swimming pool to be decided in the Nov. 28 election. There were four items on the ballot, all of which could be decided individually.
