Evelyn Musick, Lawrence, will celebrate her 90th birthday with a reception from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Holiday Inn Express, 3411 Iowa. Her children and grandchildren will host the event, and she prefers no gifts.

The Lawrence Barn Dance Association invites residents to kick up their heels at a community barn dance, set for 7:30 tonight at Woodlawn School, 508 Elm St. in North Lawrence. A beginner’s lesson will start at 6:45 p.m.

The caller will be Lisa Harris, with live music by the Little Egypt Pepsteppers, which features Chirps Smith, Robert Freeman and Jim Nelson.

Admission is $7 for adults, $3 for students and $2 for kids under 16. No partner is necessary. The dances are taught and prompted, and the evening begins with easier dances. Please wear clean shoes that won’t mark the floor.

The Pilot Club’s Antique Show and Sale will be Friday through Oct. 28 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, 21st and Harper streets.

The show will feature antiques and collectibles from more than 25 dealers from several states. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Oct. 27, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 28. Admission is $3 a person.

Proceeds from the show will benefit local projects such as ECKAN, Relay for Life and providing safety helmets for children.
