Trails summit to be in city this week

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment and three other groups will conduct a Built Environment and Trails Summit, scheduled for Thursday and Friday at the Lawrence Holidome, 200 McDonald Drive.

Also conducting the event are the Kansas Recreation and Parks Association, Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks and Kansas Department of Transportation.

The event will explore how to change the built environment to increase opportunities for physical activity. Discussion topics will include trail planning and development needs, successes of already-completed trails in the state, and how community collaboration and grassroots advocacy can spur change.
