South eighth-graders take title

South eighth-graders from left, Simon Fangman, Michael Penny and Wyatt Woods show off their mohawks after the Cougars defeated Southwest on Tuesday for the city championship.

The South Junior High eighth-grade football team took home the city championship with a 26-12 victory over previously undefeated Southwest on Tuesday at Youth Sports Inc.

The Cougars (3-0 in city play) had come off an impressive win over West the week before and took that momentum into Tuesday’s title match.

Southwest, who was equally impressive against Central, ends its season with a 6-1 record.
