Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Oct. 17, 1907: “The athletic board of the University of Kansas has voted to accept the proposition made by St. Joseph, Mo., to hold the Kansas-Missouri football game there on Nov. 28, Thanksgiving Day. Missouri also has agreed to hold the game on McCook field in Lawrence next year. The offer by the St. Joseph Commercial Club is by far the best made and there should be plenty of room for spectators and each team could profit well. The St. Joseph field is being offered for free and there is a good chance the attendance will produce good revenue for both schools. : American Telephone Co. now has a plan to allow subscribers, mainly farmers, to buy their own phones rather than having to rent them. It has drawn a lot of interest here.”
