A 21-year-old Lyons man was hospitalized early Monday after he fell 15 feet from a fire escape, according to Lawrence Police.

At 1:45 a.m., police and medical crews found the man unconscious on the pavement behind Henry's Coffee Shop, 11 E. Eighth St. He was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.

No foul play was suspected, police said. Officers interviewed several people about the incident.

The victim's name was not released and his condition was not known.

In other matters, how curious that this apparently isn't news in Lawrence:

(Synopsis for those who hate just getting a link: Three shots were fired into 3rd-floor windows of Lewis Hall some time between Sat. evening and Sun. morning. No one was hit. So far, no idea who did this.)

Bad enough that I didn't see anything about this in the local paper--but my son lives on that floor of Lewis. Naturally, being a teen and thus immortal, it didn't occur to him to call his mother. The things you have to find out online...sheesh!

So, LJW... why nothing about this incident in Lawrence's paper? Seems at least as newsworthy as some of the minor vehicle vandalisms and similar incidents that appear in Police Reports.

Christ, would they just hurry up and release the name already? This is getting ridiculous.

Violation of the 11th Commandment:

Thou shalt not do that which is stupid.
