Left-Over Spaghetti

He said, “If you have left-over cooked spaghetti,
cut it up and brown it in butter and olive oil, then
serve it as you would a potato or any starch.
It’ll taste even better with a sprinkle of cheese.”

My mom, a petite and pretty, widowed, shy woman
of a certain age, listening to her elderly walking companion at
cardiac rehab, was
amused, but also
flattered to have his attention.
He is verbose, she isn’t.

“Well, that’s a good idea,” she said. “I’ll tell my
five children.”
She wanted him to know she had
back-up, if needed.
