Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World of Oct. 13, 1907: “A serious shooting scrape took place on the bridge Saturday night. Carl Bowers and two or three other young men from the south side were on their way home when they met a man named Horace Peterson. Words were exchanged, shots were fired, there were injuries but the arrest picture is uncertain since at least one man fled. : At the same time Saturday night, a Lecompton man was shot in the neck with a rifle due to carelessness by an acquaintance in handling the gun. “
