Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World of Oct. 11, 1907: “The state photographers’ convention is closing today after a wide range of outstanding photo displays. More than 100 were involved. Next year the convention will be in Topeka, which can look forward to a good experience because of the many displays open to the public. : The Rev. W.E. Biederwolf who comes here Sunday to conduct the huge local church revival is highly recommended after a successful revival effort in Goshen, Ind. He is regarded as a deeply spiritual character. : Today is Trail Day in Baldwin and special observances are planned to establish a tasteful granite Santa Fe Trail marker. : The university has received a petition to study for a degree from a Japanese student, Sadamichi Yanasaki. He says he wants to study at ‘a great college.’ : State officers continue to line up for and against a primary election in Kansas next year. Those most against it seem to be people serving their first terms in office.”
