Two emergency helicopters called to injury accident

October 10, 2007, 8:22 p.m. Updated October 10, 2007, 9:11 p.m.

A one-vehicle accident happened around about 7 p.m. in the parking lot of Goodwill store near 31st and Iowa St, injuring four people.

Sgt. Dave Hubbel with the Lawrence Police Department says the female driver was eastbound on 31st street when her accelerator stuck.

She turned the out of control pick-up north onto Neider Rd. and into the Goodwill parking lot.

While trying to drive in circles, she hopped a concrete island and eventually drove into the ditch, Hubbel said.

There were two adult passengers and an infant in the car.

The driver and infant were treated at the scene.

The two other passengers were flown by air ambulance to an area hospital.

First guess of the cause: stuck throttle.

The driver of the truck later admitted driving so wrecklessly because it was an hour before his wedding, and he still needed to pick up an old tux....

you win Logicman... however, my scenario would have made for better news...

I ask why didn't they just turn the ignition key off. Uh, that would stop it from moving.

... upon arrival, the two emergency helicopters collided, sending blade shrapnel hundreds of yards in every direction.

Contempt says: " Not... funny at all. You... have obviously never flown in anything.... You are scum and beneath Marion."

You guys are all A$$holes! those people in that truck are friends of mine... they were not drunk or speeding... the truck just went out of control... as for turning off the ignition I would like to see any of you think about what to do in a situation like that! Accidents happen!!! There is no reason for people to make light of a horrible situation...

You know, Voice... if we couldn't laugh, we'd surely cry.

So lighten up! -too many situations in life are horrible enough, as it is.

( I see that the puppetmaster has his hooks into you, too. )
