Baker University place-kicker Derek Doerfler was named NAIA special teams player of the week after providing all the scoring in the Wildcats’ 15-13 victory Saturday over William Jewell.

Doerfler, a 5-11, 211-pound junior from Lee’s Summit, Mo., made five of six field goal attempts, including a 62-yarder with 39 seconds remaining for the game-winner.

Doerfler also averaged 67.5 yards on six kickoffs with four going into the end zone for touchbacks. He leads NAIA with 12 field goals and an average of 2.0 per game.
