NEODESHA ? Seabury Academy’s Brooke Sutherland finished second in a Class 3A-1A tennis sub-state Saturday and qualified for next week’s state tournament in Wichita.

Sutherland defeated Kelly Mowler of Shawnee Maranatha, 6-1, 6-1, then spilled Holly Jabara of Wichita Independent, 6-3, 6-2, in the semifinals.

In the final, Sutherland stopped Wichita Independent’s Caroline Lincoln, 6-2, in the first game, but dropped the next two, 6-2, 6-0.
