Kyle and Leslie Givens, Lawrence, announce the birth of their daughter, Madison Shawn Givens, born Sept. 24, 2007, in Overland Park.

Madison’s siblings are Logan, Taylor and Aubrey. Her maternal grandparents are Adley and Coletta Johnson, Salina. Paternal grandparents are Bob and Jean Givens, Lawrence.

¢Carrie L. Whitlock graduated summa cum laude from the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Nursing in August. She received a Bachelor of Science in nursing.

Whitlock also was elected to the Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society and received College Deans Honors.

She is employed at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis in the coronary care intensive care unit.

Her sister, Kirsten L. Whitlock, was named to the honor roll for grades achieved during the spring 2007 semester at Kansas City Kansas Community College. She is in the respiratory therapy program and earned a grade-point average between 3.0 and 3.49.

They are the daughters of Rick Whitlock and Jessie Miller, Lawrence.

¢High school seniors from Ottawa and Wellsville are among those who will be named Kansas Honor Scholars during an event Wednesday hosted by the Kansas University Alumni Association and KU Endowment Association.

The students will be honored at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at Ottawa High School, 1120 S. Ash St. Students who will be recognized include:

l Ottawa High School: Russell Anderson, Matthew Ellington, Emily Ferguson, Zane Frings, BreAnne Hendricks, Derek Huddlestun, Megan Ketchum, Mallorie Mendell, Lauren Prather, Katherine Reusch, Tyler Sheldon, Laura Snider, Lacey Thayer and Davy Towner.

l Wellsville High School: Alex Bachman, Eva Hedtke, Audrey McTaggart, Meghan Rush, Joey Scalet, Carrie Shirk and Colin Wright.
