P.M. announces plan to fight drug dealers

? Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper promised Thursday to put more drug dealers behind bars and help users kick the habit as part of a new anti-drug strategy.

Harper said his Conservative government will introduce legislation in the coming weeks to make prison time mandatory for serious drug offenses. But he refused to provide more specifics on punitive measures other than to say the proposed law would focus on dealers.

The plan includes a promise to help border guards find drugs and the products used to manufacture crystal meth and other substances.
