A traffic accident involving a large truck has closed the Kansas Turnpike interchange bridge at Bonner Springs.

Traffic on Kansas Highway 7 can't enter the turnpike to travel east on Interstate 70, according to the Kansas Turnpike Authority. Also, eastbound traffic on I-70 can't exit to access K-7.

The bridge could be closed overnight, a KTA spokeswoman said. No other details were available late this afternoon.

A flatbed semi-truck carrying an empty railroad covered hopper car entered the turnpike at Bonner Springs, going east and did not clear the bridge. How in the heck he made it that far is beyond me. It appeared to me that the injuries were the truck, railroad car and the overhead bridge. They were doing some serious inspections under the bridge. Traffic eastbound was a mess. Westbound is flowing. An uneducated guess would say there were no physical injuries.
