Freshman volleyball season comes to a close

Central:

The Mustangs continued their season of improvement, but came away without a win at the tournament. Central fell to Southwest, Paola, Ottawa and South, but the head coach felt the season was a positive one.

“They improved a great deal,” coach Kim Henrichs said. “This was a real fun bunch to coach.”

Central finishes the season with a record of 2-18.

West:

The Warhawks finished out the season with tournament losses to Bishop Miege, Prairie Trail, Blue Valley West and Oregon Trail. Although the season didn’t go as hoped, coach Amy Yates was pleased with her team’s performance throughout the year.

“They were a great team to coach,” Yates said. “They showed a great positive attitude all year long.”

South:

The Cougars lost once on the day in pool play and went on to capture the consolation round at Saturday’s tournament. South defeated host Gardner-Edgerton, Central, Paola and Oregon Trail.

“The girls played really well,” coach Kathy Stuntz said. “They left it all out there on the court.”

Stuntz cited the play of Morgan Green, Nicole Bostick and setter Kelsey Waite as important players over the weekend.

South finishes the season at 11-14.
