Tip-filled style guide is small but mighty

“Getting Gorgeous – How to Look and Feel Fabulous,” by Jacqui Ripley (Ryland, Peters & Small, 64 pages, $9.95) covers skin, makeup, hair, body and style tips, and it includes an appendix of useful addresses. Three great tips from the book:

¢ Spangle up your sweater. A plain-knit crew neck is the perfect canvas for a bold necklace. It’s a fantastic way to introduce grown-up glamour to a daytime look.

¢ Spice girl. Improve oxygenation and skin tone by opting for a body scrub containing ginger. It will warm the skin to increase the flow of oxygen to the skin’s surface, remove dead skin cells and stimulate new cell growth for a gorgeous glow.

¢ Power up. Buy the most powerful hair dryer you can find. As a guideline, a salon dryer is a mighty 3,200 watts. It dries hair more quickly, and therefore you spend less time damaging your hair.
