Old Home Town – 100 years ago
From the Lawrence Daily World for Nov. 25, 1907: “Capt John G. Haskell died at age 75 last night. He had been ill for several weeks. He had been one of the stalwart political, religious and business leaders in Lawrence for more than 50 years and his architectural marvels will forever stand as testimonies to his imagination and talent. His loss is one of the greatest in our history. A native of Vermont, he had served five years in the Army during the Civil War that then made an indelible mark as an architect and outstanding citizen.”
