Monica Gutierrez, a staff nurse at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, recently passed the OB certification exam, earning her the Registered Nurse Certified credential in inpatient obstetrics.

The certification came through National Certification Corp., a credential program for nurses, physicians and other licensed health care personnel, and is designed to validate her knowledge and expertise in the field and indicate her commitment to mothers and their newborns.

Gutierrez works in maternal child nursing, with a special interest in the nursery. She earned her nursing degree from Marymount College in Salina, and will be celebrating her 21st year with LMH beginning in February.
