Haskell collecting holiday gifts for children

Haskell Indian Nations University is looking to the Lawrence community to help make this holiday season brighter for children of on-campus and off-campus Haskell student parents.

This will be the fourth year of the Adopt-a-Haskell Rascal program, which collects gifts for the children of university student parents.

Last year, Lawrence Police, Kansas University student organizations, KU Endowment Association and many others in the community helped make the drive a success.

Sherry Girty, event coordinator, has 99 children signed up to receive gifts from the program. She is seeking 20 or more donors to adopt a child or family. Businesses are welcome to adopt. All gifts will be distributed at the Annual Christmas Program, which is Dec. 8

Once donors sign up, they may choose a child ranging from newborn to teenager. Each child receives up to four gifts, ranging from clothes to toys.

To adopt, contact Sherry Girty at 749-8445, or by e-mail at sgirty@haskell.edu.
