Douglas County Family and Community Education, in cooperation with K-State Research and Extension’s Family and Consumer Sciences, is offering the program “Holiday and Family Traditions” at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 7 in Deal Six Auditorium at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper St.

Pattie Johnston, senior outreach coordinator for the Lawrence Public Library, will lead the program, which is free and open to the public. Registration is requested by calling 843-7058. The registration deadline is Friday.

Louise Hamel opened the Meadowlark 4-H Club’s November meeting by saying the club pledge and motto. Members answered roll call by naming their favorite food on Thanksgiving. The minutes from the last meeting were read.

Derby Miller announced that new officers were welcomed at a recent council meeting. Shelby questioned whether the 4-H journal should be sent to those who don’t read it, and Shelby made a list of those who wanted it.

The leader of the club reported this year’s Bromelsick event is planned for Dec. 2, and tickets are available.

A Project Skillathon event is set for Jan. 21. If there is a topic not covered last year that should be presented or if you have a special skill to demonstrate to younger 4-H’ers, contact the extension office.

The club decided to go Christmas caroling at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community on 4-H Sunday. Members will bring tray favors. Other activities that day include attending church at St. John’s and conducting a meeting and gift exchange.

Members agreed to offer a model meeting for club days.

Jamie Morgison and Shelby gave a program on etiquette. Mason and Elliot Koger were guests at the meeting.

Members said the club pledge and motto, and the meeting was adjourned.
