Assistant DA attends training conference

Kathleen “Katy” Britton, an assistant district attorney who specializes in domestic battery prosecution for Douglas County District Attorney Charles Branson, completed the National College of District Attorneys’ 17th Annual National Multidisciplinary Conference on Domestic Violence, conducted Oct. 27-31.

The conference provided training and education in many areas addressing the problem of domestic violence. Topics included batterer intervention programs, children witnessing domestic violence, and safety planning.

The college was the first professional organization to represent criminal prosecutors and currently is the largest group of its kind. Members are from the offices of district attorneys, state attorneys, attorneys general and county and city prosecutors nationwide.
