Man gets 10 years in child porn case

A Lawrence man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after more than 1,000 images of child pornography were found on his computer.

Michael Swim, 49, entered a guilty plea in August to one count of receiving child pornography via the Internet.

In his plea, Swim admitted there were 1,232 sexually explicit pictures of children on his computer hard drive when detectives from the Lawrence Police Department went to his apartment in August 2003 at the former Colony Woods complex, 1301 W. 24th St.

Investigators discovered Swim had obtained the photos, as well as 19 movies, in chat rooms where participants traded images via e-mail.
