A Lawrence man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after more than 1,000 images of child pornography were found on his computer.

Michael Swim, 49, entered a guilty plea in August to one count of receiving child pornography via the Internet.

In his plea, Swim admitted there were 1,232 sexually explicit pictures of children on his computer hard drive when detectives from the Lawrence Police Department went to his apartment in August 2003 at the former Colony Woods complex, 1301 W. 24th St.

Investigators discovered Swim had obtained the photos, as well as 19 movies, in chat rooms where participants traded images via e-mail.

Change "sentenced to 10 years" into "Tossed into wood chipper" and things will be a lot better.

How many children were horribly scarred from this incident, and yet he only gets 10 years? What does that mean for parole? 3 years and registered as a "sex offender" along side people who are on the list for streaking a football game or mooning a passing car? Yeah, justice. Sweet sweet justice.

I agree with you, Ragingbear. This disgusting pervert will get out of jail and act on his sick fantasies. When will children become a priority in the U.S.? Had this man slept with another man in a park, he'd be facing a life sentence.
