Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Nov. 20, 1907: “The only chapel rail car in the United States was in Salina today. It is the St. Anthony Chapel Car of the Catholic Church Extension Society of the United States and is billed as a ‘church on wheels’ to serve Catholics and encourage converts. : Local dairymen seem wholeheartedly in support of the milk ordinance passed that requires strict inspections and is designed to protect the public. Dairymen say the ordinance will do much to further legitimize their business. : Alabama has joined the ranks of absolute prohibition states. Citizens turned out in great numbers to support the state legislature as it passed the ordinance.”
