Markets climb Friday to close up for week

Wall Street ended a volatile week with a late-day comeback Friday after investors set aside some concerns about the banking sector and the health of the overall economy.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 66.74, or 0.51 percent, on Friday to close the week at 13,176.79. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 7.59, or 0.52 percent, to 1,458.74. The Nasdaq composite index rose 18.73, or 0.72 percent, to 2,637.24.

For the week, the Dow ended up 134.05, or 1.03 percent; the S&P 500 finished up 5.04, or 0.35 percent; and the Nasdaq ended up 9.30, or 0.35 percent.
