From the Lawrence Daily World for Nov. 16, 1907: “The Indian Territory and Oklahoma Territory became the State of Oklahoma at 10:15 this morning when President Roosevelt signed the proclamation. : The Kansas University football team is in a tailspin. After a 4-0 start, the team has lost three games in a row, the latest being a 17-0 defeat today at St. Louis. The only game left on the schedule is Missouri at St. Joseph, Mo., on Thanksgiving Day and we can be sure that coach Bert Kennedy will turn heaven and earth to get a victory in that vital contest.”
