Beaton Takes Finale: Mike Beaton carded a 67 Saturday and won the Jayhawk Golf Club fall finale net golf tournament at Alvamar by four strokes over Jeff Miller. Chris Anderson and Tom Dennis shared third after each recorded a 73. Conrad Roberts posted the low gross score with a one-under-par 71.

¢KU Baseball Camp: Kansas University baseball will conduct a holiday skills camp Dec. 27-29 for youths ages 9-18. Sessions will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with lunch provided. Cost: $195. For info, call 864-7907.

¢Turkey Day 5K: RunLawrence’s annual Thanksgiving Day 5K will be a week from today, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Lawrence Visitors Center. Register by Monday and avoid a late fee. Entries available at Francis Sports or call Dee Boeck at 841-3587.

¢Orchards Golf: Orchards Golf Course Duffers meet at noon on Saturdays for nine-hole tournaments. Teams chosen weekly. All ages welcome. Cost: $7. Orchards also has a coed winter golf league on Tuesdays.

¢Salvatore Signs: Genny Salvatore, a Level 10 gymnast at LGA and a senior at Free State High, has verbally committed to attend the University of Rhode Island on a full gymnastics scholarship.
