Baker University’s Derek Doerfler has been named NAIA special-teams player of the week after breaking the national record for field goals made in a season. A junior from Lee’s Summit, Mo., Doerfler nailed three of his four field-goal attempts in Saturday’s 58-23 victory at Avila to bring his season total to 23.
