Lawrence police are investigating a possible kidnapping after a woman told them she was held against her will and beaten over the weekend.

The 22-year-old woman called police Sunday morning after she escaped from an apartment in the 2500 block of Redbud Lane. She said she had been held by a 27-year-old Lawrence man who threatened her with a gun, and a 32-year-old woman who beat her with a kitchen utensil, police said.

The incident started at 7 p.m. Saturday and the woman managed to escape at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Police obtained a search warrant for the apartment where the woman was held but didn’t find the suspects during the search, according to a police news release issued Monday morning.

An investigation is continuing.
