Eudora vision

Tuesday's approval of a $45 million school bond shows Eudora voters are looking to the future.

Congratulations to Eudora residents for approving a $45 million bond issue to pay for a new elementary school, new classrooms and a larger lunch area at Eudora Middle School, a new auditorium and classrooms for Eudora High School and a new district stadium.

Eudora is a growing community, and unless there is a major, unexpected development that discourages future growth, Eudora is going to continue to grow as an inviting and attractive place to live.

A $45 million bond package is a large commitment for a city the size of Eudora, but approval of the bonds is the best possible evidence of the optimism Eudora residents have about the future of their town and the need to provide good school facilities for the young people of the community.

The relatively close margin of victory, 874 to 722, shows those favoring the bond question worked hard to get out a positive vote.

If and when Lawrence voters are asked to vote on sound and reasonable methods of raising money to pay for badly needed city projects, it is hoped those favoring such plans will take a lesson from the Eudora school bond campaign.

Again, congratulations to Eudora leaders and residents who voted to help make Eudora an even finer and more progressive city with expanded and improved school facilities.
