Vote canvassing board approves ballots

? The Douglas County vote canvassing board Friday approved the ballots in Tuesday’s special Eudora school district and city bond issue. There was no change in the outcomes.

Eudora school district voters in six precincts approved a $45 million school bond issue. City voters in four precincts approved an ordinance that allows the mayor, upon approval of the council, to appoint department heads to two years instead of one year.

The board allowed the counting of 22 provisional ballots and six were not approved for counting.

The official vote count in the bond issue was 887 “yes” votes and 731 “no” votes. Voter turnout in six precincts was nearly 35 percent. That includes election day, advance and provisional ballots.

The official count on the city ordinance was 609 “yes” and 548 “no.”
